Samsung will not be launching the Galaxy A55 in the US. What about Malaysia?

Samsung recently revealed to the world their latest midrange offerings, the Galaxy A55 and the Galaxy A35. However, the Korean giant has also quickly confirmed that it won’t be launching the pricier Galaxy A55 in the United States.

Samsung wants the US market to get the S23 instead

According to Samsung, it seems that the decision to not offer the Galaxy A55 in the US market is because it wants the US to opt for one of their more flagship offerings instead. In a statement to Android Authority, Samsung said that they want users to consider the last generation flagship Galaxy S23 and the recently-launched Galaxy S23 FE.

“We can confirm that Galaxy A35 5G will be coming to the US market and look forward to sharing more details in the coming weeks. While we will not be carrying Galaxy A55 5G at this time, consumers can still take advantage of our Galaxy innovation at great value with Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 FE,” – Samsung

Considering that these two are priced between USD534 and USD549 in the US, a Galaxy A55 would have added a third option into the USD500 to USD550 price point among Samsung’s offerings, as the latter would’ve been priced around the UDS525 mark. Pushing consumers to the older but still more powerful Galaxy S23 would also allow them to clear their remaining inventory while giving users a better experience too. Samsung has done this before of course, with the Galaxy A73 never making it to the US, even though it was available here.

Will the Samsung Galaxy A55 be in Malaysia?

At time of writing, the Galaxy A55 is still not yet available for purchase in Malaysia, with Samsung also not announcing a local price for neither it nor the Galaxy A35. However, fans of Samsung’s midrange lineup should not have to worry about whether it will be making its way to Malaysia or not.

Despite no pricing or availability details, the Samsung Malaysia website has already been updated with both the Galaxy A55 and the Galaxy A35 product pages. Furthermore, Samsung Malaysia’s social media accounts have been posting updates on both the new midrange smartphones. It’s likely just a matter of time then before the two new Galaxy A devices become available here, and if we had to guess we’d say it would appear some time next week as we saw an ad on Google Search indicating a 22 March launch date in Malaysia.

As for its potential price, it could be close to what it’s priced in Indonesia, with the 256GB models of the A55 and A35 going for IDR4,999,000 (~RM1,503.47) and IDR6,899,000 (~RM2074.90) respectively. The last generation Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34 meanwhile were priced at RM1,899 and RM1,599 in Malaysia respectively.
