Samsung Galaxy A35 – Priced at RM1,699 in Malaysia

The Galaxy A35 and A55 are quite similar devices except for several changes in the processor and camera department. Both models get a similar 6.6″ 120Hz Full HD+ Super AMOLED display and it also gets Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ for improved durability. Under the hood, the Galaxy A35 is running on an Exynos 1380 chip, which is the same chip that’s powering last year’s Galaxy A54. The device comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage which can be expanded up to 1TB extra via microSD card.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy A55 gets a newer Exynos 1480 chip which boats AMD RDNA2-based GPU. It gets 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, which is also expandable via microSD up to 1TB. To freshen things up for 2024, the new Galaxy A35 and A55 feature a raised button island along the sides that houses the volume rocker and power button. The Galaxy A55 features a metal frame while the A35 now gets a glass back. As usual, you still get IP67-rated dust and water resistance.

The main highlight for this year’s Galaxy A35 and A55 is the inclusion of Samsung Knox Vault, a first for the Galaxy A series. Samsung Knox Vault is a hardware-based security system that protects your device against hardware and software attacks. It stores your critical data such as your lock screen credentials, PIN codes, passwords and patterns in a secure environment that’s isolated from the phone’s main processor and memory. It also protects the device’s encryption keys by encrypting private data stored on the device. This ensures that only the right user with the correct lock screen credentials can access the data in the event that the device is lost or stolen.

Both devices support WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, 5G and NFC. Keeping the lights on for the Galaxy A duo is a 5,000mAh battery which supports 25W fast wired charging via USB-C. As usual, you don’t get a power adapter in the box and all you get is a USB-C to USB-C cable and a SIM ejector tool. Samsung is still promising 4 generations of OS upgrades and up to 5 years of security updates for the Galaxy A35 and A55.
