Tesla Cybertruck about to make official appearance in Malaysia

Tesla Cybertruck will be making its first official appearance in Malaysia very soon. The massive electric pickup truck will be here as part of its promotional tour across Asia.

Details regarding its Malaysian visit are still unclear

If you wondering whether you can take a closer look at the EV, unfortunately, we don’t have the answer for you at the moment.  This is because other details regarding its visit including dates and venues are still under wraps.

All we know for sure is that the Cybertruck will be showcased in Malaysia soon. Before its upcoming visit to Malaysia, the EV has made its way to China and Japan while Thailand will also be having its own Cybertruck showcase later this week.

This does not mean Cybertruck will be released in Malaysia

Naturally, some may assume that the upcoming visit by Cybertruck means that the model is going to be available in Malaysia. However, there is still no clear indication whether Tesla will roll out Cybertruck into our market even though the EV has been listed on Tesla Malaysia’s website.

In addition to that, all the units that are currently touring Asia have a left-hand drive setup and Tesla so far has not announced any official plan to manufacture Cybertruck in right-hand drive configuration. Hence, you may want to manage your expectations.

The electric pick-up truck comes in three variants including the base model which features a rear-wheel drive (RWD) setup. Tesla claimed that the Cybertruck RWD can go from 0 to 100km/h in 6.7 seconds and has a top speed of 180km/h.

It also can deliver 402km of range and has a towing capacity of 3,402kg. However, that’s all the information that Tesla has revealed about Cybertruck RWD so far as further details about this variant will only be announced in 2025.

Moving on to the mid-specs option which comes with two motors and an all-wheel drive (AWD) setup. Performance-wise, Tesla claimed that the Cybertruck AWD can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 4.3 seconds despite having a rather bulky physique.

With a top speed of 180km/h which is identical to its RWD counterpart, the towing capability of this variant is much higher at 4,990kg.  When it comes to range, it can go up to 547km according to Tesla.

Meanwhile, there is also a variant called the Cyberbeast. While it is also an AWD model, what makes it different is that the Cyberbeast carries three electric motors.

The tri-motor setup allows it to go from 0 to 100km/h in just 2.7 seconds (with rollout subtracted, as per Tesla’s norm) although you need to activate its Beast mode to make it possible. Not to forget, the Cyberbeast has a top speed of 209km/h which surpassed other Cybertruck variants.

With so much firepower and being a much heavier variant than the AWD model, the Cyberbeast has less range but is still quite respectful at 515km. Both Cybertruck AWD and Cyberbeast support DC fast charging of up to 250kW.

Given its nature and massive stature, it is not surprising that the Cybertruck offers plenty of cargo space with an overall capacity of 3,424 litres inclusive of 1,897 litres of lockable storage. Furthermore, it can also support a maximum payload of 1,134kg.

It is also the first Tesla vehicle that comes with Vehicle-To-Load (V2L) capability and is capable of providing up to 11.5kW of power to external appliances, another EV or even one’s home. There are also several integrated 120V and 240V power connectors throughout the Cybertruck together with wireless charger and 65W USB-C ports.

Over in the United States, the Cybertruck RWD is priced at USD60,990 (~RM289,824). As for the Cybertruck AWD and Cyberbeast, they can be obtained for USD79,990 (~RM380,113) and USD99,990 (~RM475,153), respectively.
