Tesla Supercharger goes live in Majlis Bandaraya Kuantan, becomes East Coast’s first Supercharger


Tesla has activated the Tesla Supercharger station in Kuantan, Pahang. Located at Majlis Bandaraya Kuantan, it is the first Supercharger station in the East Coast region of Peninsular Malaysia.

According to Josh KY Chua who has shared these pictures at Warga Kuantan’s Facebook group, the area is accessible to the public 24 hours daily. The car park is also free of charge.

Even though Tesla has already begun deploying Supercharger V4 in Malaysia, the site at Majlis Bandaraya Kuantan received the older Supercharger V3 though. There are four charging bays that Tesla users can utilise at the site.

As per other locations in Malaysia, the charging fee for the new Supercharger in Kuantan is RM1.25 per kWh. Similarly, there is also an idle fee of up to RM4 per minute if the station is fully occupied.

Tesla is keeping its promise so far

The activation is consistent with what Tesla’s Regional Director, Isabel Fan said in March that the Supercharger in Kuantan would be deployed by the end of Q2 this year. Other locations within the Q2 list that already went live include Penang’s first Supercharger station in Prai.

The company has also set up Supercharger V4 in IOI City Mall Putrajaya and IOI Mall Puchong which were the first such deployment in Southeast Asia. Tesla has also recently revealed that The Gardens Mall in Kuala Lumpur will soon become a Supercharger site as well.
