Gentari continues to deploy more EV fast chargers on the east coast and the latest DC charging site is at Petronas Rantau (also known as Petronas Mesra Mall) in Kerteh Terengganu. What makes this deployment unique is that it repurposes the former NGV refuelling area into a DC charging hub. With a total of 4 nozzles, this is one of the biggest EV charging hubs in Terengganu.
As we’ve covered previously, the NGV pumps were removed sometime before April 2019. However, the physical structure has remained and the shaded area makes it an ideal spot for EV charging since it can provide shade against the elements.
For this location, Gentari has deployed a 150kW Kempower DC charging solution with two satellite terminals equipped with two CCS2 nozzles each. This allows four EVs to be charged simultaneously.

Similar to other Gentari DC charging sites, the chargers here are priced at RM1.50 per kWh. If you have a Gentari Go annual membership, you can enjoy 50% off and you’ll only need to pay RM0.75 per kWh.
In the next couple of months, we can expect more DC chargers to be deployed in Terengganu as EV Connection has shared plans to deploy three Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)-assisted EV charging stations by the end of this year.
TNB Electron has also ramped up its EV charging deployment on the East Coast. They have recently deployed DC chargers at Petron Kg Gemuroh in Terengganu and Petron Selising in Kelantan.
