Alliance Bank and JomCharge have announced a partnership to introduce Malaysia’s first virtual credit card (VCC) that’s tailored for EV charging. Besides enabling a secure and seamless way to pay for EV charging, the Alliance Bank’s VCC cardholders can enjoy extra perks and benefits including discount for EV charging.
With this partnership, JomCharge users can easily apply for Alliance Bank Visa VCC in the JomCharge app by clicking on the banner or the floating icon on the home screen. If you’re new to Alliance Bank VCC, they are offering RM100 in JomCharge credits for successful applications.
In addition, Alliance Bank VCC holders will receive a 20% rebate on all EV charging sessions across all 3000+ charging points on the JomCharge app.
JomCharge users can also enjoy 8x Timeless Bonus Points (TBP) on all JomCharge EV charging sessions paid with the Alliance Bank VCC. The same 8x multiplier can also be enjoyed for participating online shopping platforms and eWallet top ups.

According to Alliance Bank, there’s no annual fee for its Visa VCC but new cardholders will be charged a RM25 Service Tax upon card activation.
So far there’s no mention of any limit, cap or validity period for the 20% rebate offer on EV charging. According to the Alliance Bank JomCharge VCC page, the card is open to individuals with a minimum income of RM24,000 per annum, aged 21 years old and above.
EV Connection (JomCharge) Managing Director Ir. Lee Yuen How said, “This partnership marks a significant milestone in Malaysia’s EV ecosystem. As the first Virtual Credit Card launched specifically for an EV charging network, we are not only enhancing the charging
experience with greater convenience but also rewarding our users with exclusive benefits.”
Meanwhile, Alliance Bank Group Chief Consumer Banking Officer Gan Pai Li said, “Alliance Bank strongly believes that service to our customers should be more than just a transactional experience. As The Bank For Life, we strive to forge partnerships with like-minded organisations to provide more value to our customers. Through our collaboration with JomCharge, we aim to provide convenience to our VCC users when charging their electric vehicles (EVs) at JomCharge charging stations. Apart from benefitting our customers, we also hope to play our part in protecting the environment by encouraging more to make the switch to EV by offering a seamless payment experience.”

To recap, Alliance Bank’s VCC is the first product in Malaysia that offers the flexibility to generate separate 16-digit virtual credit card numbers for different subscriptions, in-app payment and eCommerce platforms. This offers improved security as users can disable a specific virtual card number tied to a specific platform without the need to cancel and replace their default credit card number. On top of that, users are also able to generate disposable one-time credit card numbers which can be handy if you’re only making a single transaction on a specific eCommerce platform.
