Xiaomi has finally launched its second EV called the YU7. As teased for several months now, the YU7 is a fully electric SUV and it looks like a Ferrari Purosangue with headlamps heavily inspired by the McLaren 720S.
Similar to the Xiaomi SU7 sedan, the YU7 not only packs impressive performance but it is also loaded with tech to compliment its Human x Car x Home ecosystem. What’s even more interesting is the price as Xiaomi aims to take on the Tesla Model Y, which is the world’s best selling car for several years.
As announced by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun previously, the company has ramped up production and it aims to deliver 350,000 EVs for the entire 2025.
Xiaomi YU7, YU7 Pro and YU7 Max Pricing
Similar to the SU7, the Xiaomi YU7 comes in three variants. Here’s the official pricing in China:
- Xiaomi YU7 (RWD) – CNY253,500 (about RM149,455)
- Xiaomi YU7 Pro (AWD) – CNY279,900 (about RM165,019)

The SUV comes with 19″ Hankook Ion Evo SUV 245/55 R19 tyres as standard and there are various options up to 21″ Michelin Pilot Sport EV with staggered wheels (245/45 R21 + 275/40 R21).
The Chinese tech giant is already off to a good start as it claims to have secured over 200,000 YU7 orders in the first 3 minutes. Buyers are required to place a non-refundable booking fee of CNY5000 (about RM3,000) to lock-in their orders.

Being a fully electric SUV, the YU7 is bigger than the Xiaomi SU7 and also the Tesla Model Y. It measures 4999mm long, 1996mm wide and 1608 tall, and has a wheelbase of 3000mm.
The base YU7 has a single motor driving the rear wheels that pushes 235kW (315hp) and 528Nm of torque. It has a 0-100km/h time of 5.88 seconds, up to a top-speed of 240km/h. With a 96.3kWh 800V LFP battery, this YU7 boasts a whopping 835km of CLTC-rated range and it can charge from 10-80% in just 21 minutes.
Meanwhile, the mid-spec Xiaomi YU7 Pro is an AWD model that produces 365kW (489hp) and 690Nm of torque. Acceleration is quicker with a 0-100 time of 4.27 seconds, up to a top-speed of 240km/h. Equipped with the same 96.3kWh LFP battery, the YU7 Pro boasts up to 770km of CLTC-rated range.

The range topping YU7 Max not only provides the best performance among the trio but it also packs a bigger battery and faster DC charging. The twin-motor on the Xiaomi YU7 Max boasts 508kW (681hp) and 866Nm of torque, capable of doing 0-100km/h in 3.23 seconds. The top-speed is higher too at 253km/h.
Being a performance-oriented model, the YU7 Max gets a CATL-sourced 101.kWh 800V NMC battery and it has a CLTC-rated range of 760km. With a maximum 5.2C charging rate, the YU7 Max can charge from 10-80% in just 12 minutes, or 620km of range added with 15 minutes of charging.

For the YU7, Xiaomi didn’t just make an SUV variant out of its current SU7 sedan. Replacing the usual instrument cluster and head-up display (HUD), the new EV boasts Xiaomi HyperVision Panoramic Display which is essentially a HUD that dominates the top part of the dashboard. Consisting of 3 separate display areas on a 1.1m wide panel, you can have your speedo in front of the driver, and having an animated clock, maps and media widgets showing on other sections.
Besides that, it also features a 16.1″ touch-screen display which controls all the functions in the car. It also supports Apple CarPlay which can be pinned as a desktop widget and Xiaomi says it can be used simultaneously with other in-car apps on the same screen. Rear occupants can also use iPads as their personal screen and they can be attached via the rear-seat tablet holders.
For a bit of fun, there are special themes where you can have an Otter or Capybara as a “co-pilot” which can interact to your voice prompts and even respond to G-forces while you make a turn.
The Xiaomi YU7 also boasts powerful computing powered by a 4nm Nvidia Drive AGX Thor platform which claims to outperform two combined Orin X chips. Its electrical and electronical architecture has also undergone comprehensive and rigorous reliability and testing to ensure a lifespan of over 10 years.
The EV is also packed with advanced assisted driving hardware which also include an array of sensors such as LiDAR, 4D mmWave Radar, 11 high-definition cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors. 7 of the cameras are equipped with ALD coating to reduce glare and backlight interference.

On the SU7, Xiaomi has added several thoughtful mounting points for users to add on accessories. On the YU7, Xiaomi has taken a step further by introducing a total of 9 magnetic points and there are dual-thread ports on both sides of the dashboard that can deliver up to 27W of power.
This means, you can add-on wireless chargers and phone holders without the need to run through a cable through the USB-C port.
Besides phone holders, Xiaomi has added more accessories including a magnetic tissue box, glass case and even a magnetic physical button which can be customised for variety of functions for the car such as opening the glove box, dimming the glass roof, seats and even media controls. There’s even a 4K gimbal camera which lets you monitor your vehicle’s interior and surrounding, or to monitor your pets when the EV is set to pet mode.
Even the roof for the rear occupants feature a rail system that can supply up to 100W of power. This rail lets you attach various accessories such as a sliding light or an external projector.

The Xiaomi YU7 also feature zero gravity seats for both front occupants while the rear seats come with power recline.
Other premium features on the YU7 includes a 4.6L smart fridge that can fit up to 6 cans of drinks, a 25-speaker premium sound system with Dolby Atmos and an extra screen at the rear which pops-out like a standalone smartphone.
For a quieter ride, the YU7 comes with double-laminated glass for the windshield, all four doors and the rear quarter windows. Xiaomi has also added over 120 acoustic materials and made over 200 noise-control enhancements to block noise from every angle.

Meanwhile, the panoramic glass roof claims to provide superior heat insultation and better sun-blocking performance compared to physical sunshades. It even comes with a smart dimming function like the electro chromatic windows on modern aircraft and it takes a couple of minutes to dim the entire glass.
Being a family SUV, the YU7 boasts 36 storage spaces throughout the vehicle. Besides your usual cubby holes, cup holders and phone holders, there’s a spacious passcode protected glove box and an hidden storage drawer below the rear seat.
The boot has 678L of storage space which can be expanded up to 1758L with the rear seats folded. If that’s not enough, the YU7 has a massive 141L frunk which is bigger than the Tesla Model Y. What’s even better is that the YU7’s frunk is powered and can be opened hands-free via voice.

At the moment, the Xiaomi YU7 is sold exclusively in China and based on its pre-orders, the domestic should be enough to keep them busy for the entire year. The company has already opened 235 Smart EV sales centres across 65 cities in China as of 31st March 2025.
Xiaomi currently is in no hurry to sell its EVs outside of China as their current goal to go international is currently set for 2027. We still don’t know if the Xiaomi SU7 and YU7 would eventually come to Malaysia and they have not revealed any details for Right-Hand-Drive (RHD) conversions.
If the Xiaomi YU7 Max isn’t quick enough, we reckon that an Ultra version could be released sometime later.
