Zeekr has become the latest automotive company to establish a dedicated operation in Malaysia. Instead of relying on a local partner to distribute their vehicles, the subsidiary of Geely has announced the creation of Zeekr Intelligent Technology (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd as the new National Sales Company (NSC) for our market.
In a media statement, Zeekr said that the NSC is responsible for the wholesale operations in Malaysia, together with branding & marketing activities, dealership network and aftersales operations. The company’s existing partner, Sentinel Automotive, remains the official importer and dealer.
A sign of confidence for Malaysia?
Back in April, the VP of Zeekr Group, Mars Chen has told SoyaCincau.com that the company is working to enhance its operation in Malaysia, although we didn’t think at that time it would be something as big as NSC. In today’s announcement, the MD of Zeekr Southeast Asia, Alex Bao, said that Malaysia is indeed one of Zeekr’s most important markets in the region.
“The establishment of this National Sales Company marks an important step in that journey. I strongly believe it will allow Zeekr to better connect with our customers — to listen to their voices, understand their needs, and serve them with greater care.
This also reinforces our long-term commitment to Malaysia, with three key focus areas: expanding network availability, enhancing aftersales services, and increasing marketing investment.” – Alex Bao, Managing Director, Zeekr Southeast Asia.
According to JPJ’s registration data from January to May 2025, Zeekr is currently the 7th most popular EV brand in Malaysia. During the same period, the Zeekr 009 electric MPV is currently the 9th most registered EV in Malaysia, while the Zeekr X electric crossover currently ranks 26th.
The next new model from the brand for Malaysia would be the Zeekr 7X. The 5-seater electric SUV was recently previewed at the Malaysia Autoshow and is scheduled for release in Q3 with an estimated price range of between RM182,000 and RM230,000, depending on the variant of your choice.
New Zeekr showrooms and service centres coming soon
Meanwhile, Zeekr also said that several new showrooms will be opened within the next few months. In addition to Sentinel Automotive, the company also partners with Preeminent Auto and Carro to help increase Zeekr’s reach in Malaysia.
Alongside the existing Zeekr Space Petaling Jaya and IOI Mall Puchong, the brand will have 10 showrooms altogether by the end of 2025:
- July 2025: Bandar Sunway, Yap Kwan Seng KL
- Q3 2025: Bangsar, Skudai, Penang
- Q4 2025: Seremban, Melaka, Ipoh
Zeekr also said that three Zeekr Service Centres will be operational within this year in Bandar Sunway, Penang, and Johor Bahru. At the same time, it is also actively looking for new business partners to further expand Zeekr’s dealership network in new locations such as Cheras, Kuantan, Tebrau, Kuching, and Kota Kinabalu.
