Samsung Malaysia has officially launched its 2025 lineup of AI-powered TVs, introducing Vision AI across a wide range of models, including Neo QLED, OLED, QLED, and Crystal UHD. Alongside AI enhancements, the TVs feature incremental hardware changes and broader ecosystem integration. Pre-orders are now live.

Pre-Orders and Roadshow

Pre-orders for Samsung’s 2025 AI TVs are available from 13 May to 1 June 2025. Customers can receive a premium soundbar (worth up to RM6,499) or a Customisable Bezel (worth up to RM899), depending on the model purchased. Those with a Samsung Reservation+ voucher (RM100) can stack their savings for up to RM800 in total rebates.

The Samsung 2025 AI TV Roadshow is taking place at 1 Utama Shopping Centre (LG Oval Concourse) from 21–25 May, offering hands-on experiences, demonstrations, and exclusive promotions.

Vision AI: AI-Driven Entertainment

Vision AI is Samsung’s most intelligent TV platform to date. It introduces features like ambient brightness adjustment, facial expression recognition, and AI-generated wallpaper that adapts to your mood or environment. It also includes real-time content recognition for automatic picture and sound tuning.

Most of these features work across Samsung’s 2025 TVs without requiring you to be embedded in its ecosystem. New this year is the ability to control the TV using motion via a Galaxy Watch 7.

  • Move your arm to control the on-screen cursor
  • Pinch to select
  • Make a fist to go back
  • Double fist motion to return to the Home screen
  • Swipe along the bezel to scroll

Although Samsung explicitly mentions the Watch 7 series, this feature should be available on recent models like the Watch 6 and Watch 5.

Samsung has also added a Karaoke Mode, which allows users to use a Samsung smartphone as a microphone, with a wide selection of songs across languages and genres available on the platform.

Samsung is also promising a solid seven years of OS updates, all secured through Samsung Knox Vault and powered by the updated Tizen OS Home interface. This is a commendable commitment that most competitors, especially in the Android TV space, have yet to match.

Neo QLED 8K: Wireless Setup and Real-Time AI Processing

At the top of the Neo QLED 8K range is the QN990F, powered by Samsung’s most advanced NQ8 AI Gen3 processor with 768 neural networks. It supports:

  • 8K AI Upscaling Pro
  • AI Motion Enhancer Pro
  • Real Depth Enhancer Pro
  • AI Customisation Mode
  • AI Auto Game Mode
  • AI Energy Mode

The QN990F also features a Wireless One Connect Box with a new omnidirectional design that works up to 10 metres away, allowing device connection from any direction. For context, LG’s Signature OLED M3 was the first to introduce a wireless input box.

On the design front, it offers a premium Infinity Air Design, with an ultra-slim 13.1mm profile and a floating stand.

Below it, the QN900F steps down to the NQ8 AI Gen2 processor, just like the previous year’s model. This is still baffling considering the price tag and the position of this series as Samsung’s flagship line. More baffling than that is the omission of the One Connect Box entirely, a shift from last year, where both top-tier 8K models included it.

Neo QLED 4K: Visual Enhancements with Familiar Trade-Offs

Samsung’s Neo QLED 4K lineup is led by the QN90F, equipped with the new NQ4 AI Gen3 processor and the glare-free coating, which was previously only exclusive to the S95 series. The QN85F features Quantum Matrix Technology Plus and Neo Quantum HDR+, while the QN70F offers Motion Xcelerator 144Hz with Quantum Matrix Technology Slim.

None of the NEO QLED 4K models include a One Connect Box. This has been the case for several years, although there remains a question around whether a QN95F variant will be introduced.

OLED: High Refresh Rates

The S95F OLED TV features a 165Hz refresh rate, anti-reflective coating, 2,000 nits peak brightness, and the NQ4 AI Gen3 processor. Unlike the QN990F, it uses a wired One Connect Box, possibly due to the higher bandwidth requirements of the 165Hz refresh rate.

Meanwhile, the S90F, also powered by the NQ4 AI Gen3, offers a 144Hz refresh rate and OLED HDR+. So for the two top OLED models, Samsung decided to use its best 4K processor, which isn’t the case with the 8K models. Very confusing.

Anyway, the S85F, a more affordable OLED variant, uses the NQ4 AI Gen2 processor and is Pantone Validated.

The Frame 2025: More Than a Lifestyle TV

The Frame returns in two configurations:

  • The Frame 55” model: traditional QLED panel with matte coating and a wired One Connect Box.
  • The Frame Pro 65” to 85” models: upgraded to Mini LED backlighting and feature the Wireless One Connect Box.

While all versions retain Samsung’s matte coating, it’s important to note this is not the same technology as the anti-reflective coating found on high-end models like the S95F.

The Samsung Art Store is also more expansive, now featuring over 3,000 curated pieces from renowned names like MoMA, Magritte, and Basquiat, plus:

  • 30 refreshed artworks/month via Art Store Streams
  • 70+ complimentary ambient pieces/year

It’s now accessible across The Frame, Neo QLED, and QLED models.

QLED and Crystal UHD: Expanding AI to Accessible Models

The QLED Q8F features an Air Slim design and Motion Xcelerator, while the Q7F comes equipped with the Q4 AI processor. Samsung’s Crystal UHD DU9000 includes Motion Xcelerator and a Super Size Picture Enhancer, delivering better visuals even at entry-level pricing.

Soundbars: Smarter Integration for Space-Conscious Setups

Samsung’s 2025 Q-Series soundbars include AI Q-Symphony and room-adaptive audio. The HW-Q990F comes with 8” dual active radiators, now 50% smaller for more flexible placement.

While the HW-QS700F introduces Convertible Fit. A built-in gyro sensor that optimises audio depending on whether it’s mounted on a wall flat or up right.

Final Thoughts

Samsung’s 2025 AI TV lineup brings meaningful upgrades in software, connectivity, and ecosystem features. However, the hardware across many models remains largely the same as previous generations, with processor reuse and limited changes to panel tech or design.

If you already own a Samsung Neo QLED 4K, 8K, or OLED TV from 2022 or 2023, the upgrade this year is not essential. But if you’re coming from an older setup or are adding another TV, the improved software support, gesture controls, and visual refinements make several models in the 2025 range worth considering, provided you choose the right one for your needs.
