Bowers & Wilkins is bringing its latest flagship true wireless ANC earbuds, the Pi8 McLaren Edition, to Malaysia. A celebration of engineering excellence and motorsport design, these special edition earbuds offer a fusion of high-end sound and McLaren’s iconic visual identity.

Pricing and Availability

The Bowers & Wilkins Pi8 McLaren Edition is priced at RM2,999 and available in one colourway called Galvanic Grey/Papaya.

Compared to the standard Pi8, which is priced at RM2,399, the McLaren edition costs RM600 more. That price difference is mainly for the exclusive McLaren design, colours, and branding, but the core sound quality and features remain the same.

Pre-orders open on 15 May 2025, and units will be available in-store by end-May 2025. You can pre-order and purchase from:

What do you get for RM2,999?

The Pi8 McLaren Edition combines Bowers & Wilkins’ cutting-edge acoustic innovation with McLaren’s signature Papaya Orange and Galvanic Grey design, a nod to the elite racing heritage of McLaren Automotive. Each earbud weighs 7g and is rated IP54 for dust and splash resistance, while the case comes in at 46g.

Built with 12mm Carbon Cone drivers and a high-performance DSP with a dedicated amplifier/DAC, the Pi8 delivers true 24-bit audio for an exceptionally refined listening experience. Whether you’re streaming hi-res music, making calls, or gaming, the earbuds promise rich, detailed sound supported by aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity.

A standout feature is wireless audio retransmission from the charging case. Equipped with both USB-C and 3.5mm analogue inputs, the case can be connected to devices that lack Bluetooth, such as aeroplane seatback screens, gym machines, or older audio players. Once connected, the case transmits audio directly to the earbuds using aptX Adaptive, delivering near-lossless quality up to 24-bit/96kHz wirelessly.

The earbuds feature an Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) system powered by three microphones per earbud that offers a Transparency Mode for when you need to stay aware of your surroundings. The Pi8 also includes multipoint pairing, letting you connect to two devices simultaneously.

In terms of battery life, the earbuds can last up to 6.5 hours of listening with ANC on, while the charging case adds 13.5 more hours, totalling 20 hours. It supports fast charging that provides up to 2 hours of playback from a 15-minute charge. Wireless charging is supported as well.

The big question is: How much better are these than something like the Galaxy Buds?
