This post is brought to you by Samsung.

When you come across an outfit worn by your idol that catches your eye, the usual procedure would be to open the web browser, head over to Google, type your best description of the outfit, click search, maybe refine your search by adding more keywords, and hit search again.

Even if the brand can be identified, the process would remain similar as you would need to find that specific outfit amidst a sea of their other products. So is there a quicker way to find the answer you’re looking for with far less frustration?

Well, Circle to Search with Google on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Series can provide the answer you’re looking for in just two simple steps. As the name suggests, you don’t need to describe anything with words. Just circle the item of your desire and Google will search for it across the web.

To launch Circle to Search with Google, just press and hold the home key. If you’re using buttons on the navigation bar, the home key would be the square button, whereas for swipe gestures, it would be the navigation handle. When the app launches, it will freeze the content on the screen, and you can circle the object that you wish to know more about.

Google will search across the web for photos containing the exact or a similar-looking object and display the search results in a container at the bottom of the screen which you can expand. All this is done without leaving or closing the current app you’re using. Clicking on the links will overlay a web browser to display the contents or open the relevant apps.

There’s also the option of asking specific follow-up questions about the object by using the text box labelled Add to your search. Here you can ask for queries like price, where to buy, store location, reviews, etc.

Since Circle to Search with Google freezes the content on screen, it allows you to search for objects within specific frames of videos and GIFs. Basically, you can search for anything on the screen across almost every app on your smartphone be it for social media, video, web browsing or photos.

However, you are not just limited to using images as the search term. You can also search using the text on the screen by scribbling on the words. But say the text is too small to accurately highlight, what can you do? Just spread two fingers on the screen to zoom in or glide them across the screen to pan to get a clearer view.

Out of all the use cases for Circle to Search with Google, its best feature is looking up an object that is just too long or too difficult to describe with words like an ornament, a wristwatch, or fancy apparel.
