The HomePod and HomePod mini have officially arrived in the Malaysian market. These are Apple’s smart speakers which are seamlessly connected to the Apple ecosystem and you can control it via Siri voice commands.

Apple HomePod and HomePod Mini Malaysia Pricing

The Apple HomePod and HomePod Mini are now available for orders in Malaysia via the official Apple online store. Here’s the official pricing in Malaysia:

  • Apple HomePod mini – RM529
  • Apple HomePod – RM1,549

The HomePod mini comes in 5 colours – Space Grey, Blue, Yellow, White and Orange, while the HomePod comes in Midnight and White. Both speakers will be available starting 10 May 2024. When you purchase the HomePod and HomePod Mini, Apple also bundles 6 months of Apple Music for free.

Apple HomePod mini key features

Between the two models, the HomePod mini is the smallest and most affordable option which was introduced in 2020. Although it is small in size, Apple says the HomePod mini powered by the Apple S5 chip packs a punch with an Apple-engineered full-range driver powered by a neodymium magnet and a pair of force-cancelling passive radiators. If you have multiple HomePod minis, you can set it up for stereo mode or Multi-room audio.

To control the HomePod by touch, the illuminated top panel supports tap gestures for play/pause, skip to the previous/next track, trigger Siri or to adjust the speaker’s volume.

Being a smart speaker, it has Siri intelligent assistance built-in and you can control it via voice. This tiny speaker has four microphones for far-field Siri. The entire HomePod lineup can recognise up to six voices, allowing each member of the home to listen to their playlist, ask for reminders or set calendar events.

Besides Apple Music, the HomePod supports other audio streaming platforms such as Spotify and YouTube Music via AirPlay.

The HomePod lineup also works as an integral part of your Smart Home experience as it functions as a home hub for Apple HomeKit. The speaker can listen for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, and it can send notifications directly to your iPhone if an alarm is detected. The speaker also gets built-in temperature and humidity sensor which enables automated actions such as closing the blinds or switching on the fan when your room reaches a specific temperature.

Apple HomePod key features

The HomePod is their bigger smart speaker which offers a high-excursion woofer and a beamforming array of five tweeters. The unit that’s offered right now is the 2nd generation model introduced last year. Powered by the Apple S7 chip, it is also the only HomePod that offers Spatial Audio and room-sensing, a feature which recognises the sound reflections from nearby surfaces and adapts sound in real-time.

Apple says you can pair two HomePods with an Apple TV 4K to enjoy Dolby Atmos audio for a complete cinematic home theatre experience. Similar to the mini, the HomePod also gets Siri intelligent assistant, temperature and humidity sensor, and an illuminated touch panel at the top to control your music physically.
